National League outfit have suffered a finanical crisis in recent months

Dagenham & Redbridge fans are expected to find out more about what the future holds for the club this Thursday.

The National League outfit has served notice to convene a meeting of Full and Life Members on May 17 at 7pm in the Tony Roberts Suite at Victoria Road.

The meeting will update the Full and Life Members on the current financial position of the club, as well as proposals going forward.

Following that meeting, a similar gathering will then take place in the Ted Hardy Suite at 8pm, to which all supporters are welcome to attend.

It is in the second meeting that the supporters will also be given an update on the club’s finances going forward.

Daggers have been on the lookout for new investment since announcing former director Glyn Hopkin would cease funding the club in January.

That led to a sale of players, with stars such as Corey Whitely, Morgan Ferrier and Sam Ling all departing to help raise funds.

John Still’s men also hosted Premier League outfit West Ham United in March in a fundraising friendly.

Despite the money raised by both player sales and that friendly, Daggers remain strapped for cash, with Hopkin mercifully agreeing to pay April’s wages.

In interviews during the financial crisis, managing director Steve Thompson revealed the club had been in talks with interested parties.

It is hoped one of those parties has submitted a proposal that can be discussed during Thursday’s meeting.

Thompson also revealed there was a possibility the club could be liquidated, but that now looks like an ever-decreasing likelihood.

The club have been confirmed to be in the National League again next season, which means they will have given the Football Association and other relevant bodies guarantees they can fulfil their fixtures next season.

In addition, while Daggers themselves have yet to announce their pre-season schedule, Bishop’s Stortford and Glebe have both confirmed they will be hosting Still’s men at some point this summer.

While it should not be taken as a given, that points towards the news about Daggers that will come out of Thursday’s meetings as being positive.
