In-form Daggers now just two points off top after run of three successive wins

Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still is not letting himself get carried away after seeing his side move to within two points of the National League summit after a run of three successive wins.

A 4-0 victory away to Chester to on Saturday saw Daggers clamber up to fifth, with the Essex club now well and truly back in the title race.

The Victoria Road outfit now currently sit joint-top of the league’s form chart over the past six games, having collected 13 points from a possible 18.

It is a run that has pleased the Daggers manager, but he knows there is still a long way to go in the race for the title.

“It’s fair for everyone to say it’s not about where we are now, it’s about where we’re going to be,” the 67-year-old told BT Sport.

“We’re playing well and our form has been good, so I’m happy with what we’re doing.”

After stuttering through September and October, Daggers finally seem to be finding their best form in the league.

Their four goals away to Chester on Saturday saw the Essex outfit cement their place as the league’s top scorers, while back-to-back clean sheets have helped Daggers improve their defensive record.

The challenge for Victoria Road club now is whether they can maintain their form, with a two-week break until they visit Barrow on December 9.

But Still feels that as long as his side are playing to their full potential, they will be more than a match for anyone in the division.

The former Luton Town manager added: “I think when we’re at full flow, we’re a really good side and we have some good players. Our strength in depth is decent.

“It is a tough league, but it’s waiting for one or two teams to put five, six, seven, eight, nine games together and I hope that can be us.

“We’ve won three in a row so it’s all right, but we have to add to that.”

The win at Chester was just Daggers’ second away win of the season and they will hope to add to that when they visit Barrow.

But Still believes he knows the reasons why the Essex club have struggled away from home so far this term.

“Sometimes you can be a bit apprehensive and I hope Saturday’s performance takes away that apprehension,” he said.
