Cards winger struck late on, but Daggers boss feels he should have been sent off for poor tackle on Scott Doe earlier in second half

Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still believes Woking match-winner Regan Charles-Cook was fortunate to still be on the pitch by the time he lashed in the winner for the Cards.

With 12 minutes left in the match, Charles-Cook struck a superb goal from distance to condemn Daggers to a first defeat in five National League matches.

However, earlier in the second half, the Cards winger was booked for a dangerous challenge that left Daggers skipper Scott Doe in plenty of pain.

Many Daggers players believed Charles-Cook should have instead been dismissed for the challenge, and it seems their manager shares that view.

“100 per cent he should not have been on the field,” said Still.

“It was a worse tackle than Jake Gallagher’s on Fejiri Okenabirhie at Aldershot Town on Tuesday night.

“It was 100 per cent a sending off, but I’m not the referee.”

Daggers had chances themselves to score before Charles-Cook struck, with Morgan Ferrier and Okenabirhie among those to test Woking stopper Nathan Baxter, who was in superb form in goal.

It was just a third time this season that Daggers have failed to score in the match, leaving Still to lament his team’s display in the final third.

“I thought we dominated the game from start to finish, but our ‘in-the-box play’ wasn’t good enough,” he added.

“They scored a great goal and there is nothing we can do about that, but for most of the game it was one-way traffic (in our favour).

“Woking worked hard and are a good side, but we dominated the game.

“Sometimes you need either a little bit of luck or a little bit of magic, and we got neither.”
