Dagenham & Redbridge earned back-to-back victories after edging past Tranmere Rovers in a five-goal thriller at Prenton Park.

Jamie Cureton opened the scoring in the 40th minute, but home substitute Danny Gardner equalised with a sublime strike to make it level at the break.

Wayne Burnett’s side started the second half brilliantly, though, with Ashley Hemmings and Billy Bingham finding the net to make it 3-1.

Max Power pulled one back late on, but the Victoria Road outfit held on for the victory to move nine points clear of the bottom two.

Liam O’Brien (6) – The young keeper performed well on his first league start since September, although he might have done better with second goal.

Damian Batt (6) – He again looked good going forward and nearly scored, but can be a liability at the back and commits himself far too many times.

Scott Doe (7) – Another solid display by the stand-in skipper as he defended excellently throughout and won his individual battles.

Ayo Obileye (7) – Strong showing from the Charlton Athletic loanee, but he did give away a few cheap fouls. He won his fair share in the air again, though.

Joe Widdowson (7) – Good performance from left-back, who is showing his worth to the team. His partnership with Hemmings is improving as well.

Luke Howell (8) – Wonderful display from experienced midfielder, playing in unfamiliar position. He covered Batt brilliantly and looked a real threat going forward – creating numerous opportunities for his team mates.

Billy Bingham (8) – Outstanding strike capped an outstanding display from 24-year-old. He linked up well with midfield partner and battled brilliantly as he always does.

Andre Boucaud (7) – Another strong performance from Trinidad and Tobago international as he linked up with Bingham and set Daggers on their way to a number of attacks.

Ashley Hemmings (8) – Brilliant showing by winger as he caused Tranmere problems all afternoon and picked up assist and sensational goal as well. Man of the match.

Shamir Fenelon (7) – Battling display by on-loan forward against his former club. He worked hard and did well for both Hemmings and Bingham’s goal.

Jamie Cureton (7) – Another goal for the 39-year-old, but he could have had a couple more. However his movement and desire to make runs time after time is truly outstanding.

Substitutes:

Alex Jakubiak, for Fenelon 67. (7) - Watford youngster was lively when he came on and nearly got shot off in the box, but was tackled brilliantly.

Joss Labadie, for Boucaud 87.

Matt Partridge, for Cureton 89.
