Dagenham & Redbridge striker Elliot Romain has joined Torquay United on loan until the end of the season.

Romain has made eight league appearances for the Daggers this season and scored his first league goal for the club in the 3-1 home victory over Gateshead on September, 2.

The 26-year-old forward recently spent a month on loan at National League South outfit Welling United, where he found the net three times in his four appearances for the club.

It was Romain’s form at Eastbourne Borough, where he scored 23 league goals, that made the Daggers sign him for an undisclosed fee at the start of 2017.

Torquay United head coach, Gary Owers, said: “He is someone I have known about for a while.

“He attracted attention when he was at Eastbourne.

“John Still, who has a great record of signing players from lower levels signed him.

“He is someone that can come in and make a big impact in terms of scoring goals.

“He works really hard and can play up front by himself and as part of a two.”

The Gulls boss was keen to bring the striker in and believes he can hopefully add something to the team as they look to scrap their way out of the National League relegation zone.

“He has had an injury, but he is over that now and he’s had a successful loan spell recently at Welling where he got on the score sheet,” he said.

“I spoke to him and he was keen to come which is another plus.

“Hopefully he is going to add something to the team.”
