Daggers fan Daniel Law is writing a blog during the 2015-16 season

Dagenham’s Boxing Day home fixture against Cambridge was certainly not a time to celebrate as the caretaker management duo of Darren Currie and Warren Hackett suffered a 3-0 defeat in their first game in charge.

Dagenham were certainly matching the U’s throughout the first half before the away team piled on the pressure to claim all three points. The defeat means that Daggers go into 2016 still searching for a first home win of the season.

Two days later Dagenham travelled to Stevenage, knowing that they defeated Teddy Sheringham’s side at The Lamex Stadium earlier on this season in the JPT. And that must have boosted the confidence of the Daggers’ players as they came away 3-1 winners.

Ashley Chambers had a good opening, scoring the opener with a rare header before providing the assist for Joss Labadie to score the second a minute later. You could certainly tell Labadie was over the moon with that goal after his last visit to the Lamex.

Dagenham conceded an own goal through Christian Doidge, but were then eager to quickly restore their two goal cushion as just five minutes later Chambers got his second assist of the game as he set up the Welshman to just tap in from close range.

The win saw Dagenham move up one place to 23rd due to Yeovil drawing against Oxford.

Dagenham’s first game of 2016 is an away game at Exeter City, a team currently sitting 16th in the table, seven places and 14 points ahead of Daggers.

Hoping 2016 is brighter than 2015 was for Daggers. Have a happy new year and come on Dagenham!
