Wayne Burnett’s team got back to winning ways at Victoria Road thanks to a helping hand from the visitors and a stunning free kick from Billy Bingham.

Hartlepool United started strongly, but once Scott Harrison put past his own keeper they never looked like scoring.

Daggers had to overcome adversity throughout as they lost captain Abu Ogogo shortly before kick-off and goalkeeper Mark Cousins was forced off after 21 minutes.

However it didn’t prevent them from earning them an 11th league success of the campaign.

Mark Cousins (6) – He wasn’t called upon too much before suffering a nasty cut in the 18th minute. It was an injury that forced him to be substituted.

Damian Batt (6) – The right-back came into the team late on after Ogogo had to withdraw and put in an assured performance for the majority of the match, although his rashness was still present.

Scott Doe (7) – Top performance from the captain and he made a vital block to prevent Nicky Featherstone’s fierce strike finding the net late on.

Ayo Obileye (8) – Charlton Athletic defender was back to the top of his game winning his individual battle and being a rock at the heart of Daggers defence.

Joe Widdowson (6) – Another assured display from the left-back and unlucky not to get an assist after lovely cross into the box for Shamir Fenelon in the second half.

Luke Howell (7) – Typical hard working showing from Howell, although he also displayed moments of skill on the right hand side and covered Batt well.

Billy Bingham (8) – He was wonderful before he beautifully slotted the ball into the top corner from roughly 30-yards-out. First to almost everything and battled brilliantly. Man of the match.

Andre Boucaud (6) – Trinidad and Tobago international worked hard, but his pass radar was off in the final third of the pitch.

Ashley Hemmings (8) – Birthday boy was impressive, like Bingham, and unlucky not to get man of the match for another terrific attacking performance. He created important first goal.

Shamir Fenelon (7) – An encouraging full debut from Brighton & Hove Albion man. He linked up with Jamie Cureton nicely to win free kick and his pace looks a great attribute.

Jamie Cureton (6) – Experienced striker worked incredibly hard throughout and tested Scott Flinders when an opportunity came his way.

Substitutes:

Liam O’Brien, for Cousins 21. (7) – Young goalkeeper was really assured after coming on in difficult situation. His distribution was excellent and punching crosses away helped his defence.

Alex Jakubiak, for Fenelon 76. (6) – Short cameo for Watford loanee, but he looked lively and seemed capable of running past players with ease.

Daniel Carr, for Bingham 90.
