Dagenham & Redbridge have brought in former Walsall winger Ashley Hemmings on a one-year deal having impressed on trial.
The 23-year-old has featured in both home pre-season friendlies against MK Dons and Colchester United in the past week, scoring the second in their 4-3 loss at the weekend to the U’s.
Hemmings started his career with Wolves, before loan spells with Cheltenham Town, Torquay United and Plymouth Argyle before a permanent switch to Walsall.
He ended last season on loan at League Two play-off finalists Burton Albion, and boss Wayne Burnett is delighted to be able to secure the signature of the winger, especially after the recent departure of Medy Elito to Dutch side VVV Venlo.
“He’s come in and done very well,” said Burnett.
“Ashley is very attack minded and he has made a contribution already with the goal against Colchester. He is a very intelligent player and hopefully he can come here and deliver.
“I’ve made no secret that we need to add wingers to the squad and Ashley will be a good addition in that department for us. Hopefully there will be one or two more on the way.”
