League Two preview: Dagenham & Redbridge v Cambridge United
Dagenham & Redbridge host Cambridge United tomorrow, and boss Wayne Burnett admits he’ll be wary of a side that’s been used to winning over the last 12 months.
The U’s won promotion back to the Football League after a nine-year exile last term via the Conference Premier play-offs, and Richard Money’s side have got off to a solid start this season as they find themselves in eighth place going into tomorrow’s game.
And Burnett is wary of a U’s side who have plenty of momentum.
“We’ve had them watched several times and they are side that is full of confidence,” he added. “They score plenty of goals and don’t concede too many so we know we are in for a tough game.
“It’ll be a competitive one as well and they are capable of scoring goals, but they also don’t concede too many at the back.
“As a group they understand how to win and we know it will be difficult. They are a good, big club but it will all come down to 11 v 11 at the weekend.”
While wary of the opposition, Burnett knows his side have got to be better following last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to Northampton Town.
“I don’t think we need to get a reaction from the players, the performances have been okay on the whole, it’s just been the decision making with or without the ball that has been the problem,” he added.
“We are going to give the ball away on occasions because of the way we play but we’ve got to react better at dealing with it when those situations arise.”
