Michael Malcolm’s second half strike saw Daggers miss out at Wealdstone.

Boss Wayne Burnett gave former Leyton Orient winger George Porter the chance from the off, while QPR youngster David Fitzpatrick and Alan Connell were the only other trialists on show.

The Daggers got off to the best possible start when a good team move was finished off by Ashley Chambers who tucked the ball away into the corner.

But their lead only lasted seven minutes as Luke Pigden curled a free-kick past Liam O’Brien in the Daggers goal.

Billy Bingham curled an effort just past the post as the half drew to a close, before he chipped a lovely throughball for Porter but the trialist was unable to get a clean connection and Wealdstone goalkeeper Jonathan North easily saved.

Ten minutes into the second half the hosts went in front when Joe Turner ghosted his way past Ian Gayle down the left before squaring for Malcolm to sidefoot home.

Play had barely resumed when the Daggers almost levelled as Jack Connors, playing in a midfield role, tried his luck from 25 yards, only to see his effort well saved by home goalkeeper Warren Carter.

For Wealdstone, Jack Mills curled a free-kick just past O’Brien’s post, while after a flurry of substitutions Bradley Goldberg fired well wide.

Daggers: O’Brien, Gayle (Raymond 76), Green, Doe (Obafemi 69), Saah, Connors, Bingham, Fitzpatrick, Connell (Goldberg 69), Chambers (Nouble 69), Porter.
