Charlton Athletic youngster moves on loan

Dagenham & Redbridge have signed Charlton Athletic defender Ayo Obileye on a youth-loan.

The 20-year-old moves to Victoria Road on an initial one-month loan after manager Wayne Burnett allowed Ian Gayle to depart the club yesterday on loan to Conference South club St Albans City.

Obileye is a central defender but can also play in midfield and comes with a big reputation.

The Hackney-born youngster moved to Sheffield Wednesday in 2011 from Chelsea and was captain of their development team.

However, he signed a short-term contract with Charlton in the summer because he wanted a return to his London roots.

He has since agreed an extension with the south London club until June 2015 and after moving to Daggers is available for their match with AFC Wimbledon this afternoon.

Obileye will wear number 25 and is expected to be involved at Cherry Red Records Stadium.
