It’s been revealed that Dagenham & Redbridge’s Victoria Road ground is the fifth most entertaining away day in League Two, according to a survey conducted by the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF).

Just over 5,300 supporters, which represents a small percentage of the actual number of fans who travel to away games, took part in the survey where all 92 professional clubs were rated out of 10 on food and drink, safety, transport and view of the pitch.

And Daggers were only headed by Plymouth Argyle, Torquay, Rochdale and Chesterfield in League Two on their way to an average score of 7.2.

Exeter City were voted the worst, averaging just 3.83 with Bristol Rovers (4.6) and Cheltenham Town (5.34) the others in the bottom three.

The FSF will send results of the survey to the football authorities in a bid to address falling away attendances.

“Away fans travel in huge numbers in this country compared to many others,” said FSF chairman Malcolm Clarke.

“They’re a driving force behind the noise and spectacle at many games. It simply wouldn’t be the same without them.

“However, in recent seasons there does seem to have been a decrease in travelling supporters.”

Fans were also asked for the reasons why they travel to away games and the most important factor was the distance of travel (44.4 per cent), followed by time/day of game (42.6), price of ticket (40.4) and cost of travel (38.7).

Judged as not so important were factors such as likelihood of victory (3.9 per cent), other activities around the match (5.2), level of opposition (6.5) and level of competition (11.2)

League Two: 1. Plymouth Argyle 8.33, 2. Torquay 7.87, 3. Rochdale 7.86. 4. Chesterfield 7.47, 5. Dagenham 7.2, 6. Fleetwood 7.1, 7. Morecambe 7.06, 8. Wycombe 6.93, 9. Northampton 6.91, 10.
