Dagenham & Redbridge managing director Steve Thompson has said the club will assist police if an investigation is launched into allegation of biting against midfielder Joss Labadie.

The 24-year-old clashed with Stevenage captain Ronnie Henry in stoppage time at Lamex Stadium and gestured to officials that his finger had been bitten during Daggers 1-0 victory, courtesy of Luke Howell’s 54th minute strike.

Police present at the game were made aware of the allegation and conducted interviews after the full time whistle.

However Labadie has denied biting Henry’s finger and maintained his innocence.

“We will co-operate fully with police, if an investigation is opened,” Thompson told Sky Sports News on Sunday.

“However, Joss Labadie maintains his innocence, and maintains that he didn’t bite the player.”

The Post have contacted Dagenham & Redbridge for further comment and are awaiting a statement from the club.
