Dagenham & Redbridge have announced that Charlton Athletic defender Ayo Obileye’s loan with the club has been extended until the end of the campaign.

The 20-year-old has made a huge impression since moving to the club in the middle of November on an initial one-month youth loan.

He made his debut in the dying minutes of the 1-0 defeat to AFC Wimbledon on November 15, but has been an ever present since.

The Charlton Athletic youngster has made 13 appearances since joining Wayne Burnett’s side and starred in Saturday’s 2-0 win at York City – assisting Jamie Cureton’s second goal.

Obileye’s loan was set to end after that victory, but work behind the scenes has been going on for some time to ensure he could stay and help the club continue to battle relegation.

He will now be available to face Portsmouth at Victoria Road tomorrow night and his stay will be a massive boost to Daggers’ chances of staying in the league.

The former Sheffield Wednesday ace has formed an excellent understanding with Scott Doe since moving to the club and the pairs partnership at the centre of defence has been the foundation for the club’s recent improvement.
