The 22-year-old was released by the Bees earlier this month having failed to make a first-team appearance for the Griffin Park side.

But after training with the Daggers, O’Brien has signed a two-year deal with the club, which will go through on July 1.

The former England under-19 international signed for Mark Warburton’s outfit at the beginning of the 2013-14 season after his release from Barnet, where he made 23 appearances.

During his time at Underhill he spent a period on loan at Hastings United and was in goal for their FA Cup third round tie at Championship side Middlesborough – saving a penalty from Ishmael Miller.

Prior to Barnet he spent time with then Premier League side Portsmouth, and came out of the youth setup at Queens Park Rangers.

His arrival fills one of the two vacant goalkeeping spots following the departures of Chris Lewington and Jordan Seabright.

On signing for the Daggers, O’Brien used social networking site Twitter, saying: “Just wanna say thank you to everyone and Brentford for what they done for me I have learnt a lot being there ... It’s now a new chapter of my life and I can’t wait for the start of the new season for the great opportunity I have playing for the Daggers!”
