Dagenham & Redbridge host a Northampton side battling to preserve their Football League status tomorrow, and loan striker Luke Norris has had a foot in both camps.

The Brentford youngster spent some time with the Sixfields outfit earlier in the season, and scored against the Daggers on his debut for the Cobblers.

Norris went on to net another four times for the struggling side, before a move back to parent club Brentford due to injury.

But he was back out on loan once again, this time to Wayne Burnett’s side in January, and has added four more goals to his name.

All in all it’s been a good season for the youngster, but he feels his current team will have just enough to get past Chris Wilder’s outfit
tomorrow – which could put a massive dent in their hopes to stay in League Two.

He said: “It makes it slightly different having had a foot in both camps this year. I enjoyed my time at Northampton. They’ve done well to be in the position they are in because they were rock bottom at one point when I was there.

“But it’ll be a very tough game and they’ll be fighting for their lives. I know some of the boys there so it should be quite fun.

“It’s changed a bit with the new manager, I’m not sure how it is there now, but they are going to try and get as close to our goal at every single chance they can get. To be honest I think we’ll have too much for them.”

Norris has scored a total of 10 goals in 33 games for three clubs over the course of the season, and all in all it’s a pleasing statistic for a 20-year-old who expected a season of under-21 football at Griffin Park.

“Before the season started I was just going to be playing under-21 football so if someone had said to me you would get 10 professional goals this season I would have snapped their hand off,” he added.

“It’s a good stepping stone for me and now I can hope for a full season in the
Football League and to improve on it.”

Norris has played 18 games since signing for the Daggers in January, with a return of four goals.

And though it’s not always gone as well as he had hoped, the loanee feels it has been a worthwhile learning curve, including playing as a sole front man at times.

“It has been good,” he said. “Sometimes it has been frustrating with the results at home, but our away form has been something I am very happy with it. There have been some ups and downs.

“I did the lone front role when I first went to Northampton, but it’s tough, any forward will tell you that.

“You need a lot of support in the style of play if it is very direct and you don’t
really get much service.

“I think every forward prefers playing in a two and I haven’t met anyone that doesn’t, but it’s a learning curve and if I am asked to do a job I’ll do it to the best of my ability.”
