Daniel Carr is excited to learn from Jamie Cureton during his loan spell with Daggers after watching the experienced forward score twice to inspire a 2-0 win at York on Saturday.

The 39-year-old Cureton scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season at Bootham Crescent to give Wayne Burnett’s team more success following an impressive January and they extended their unbeaten run on Tuesday night with a goalless draw at home against Portsmouth.

Carr, 20, has moved to Victoria Road until the end of the season from Championship outfit Huddersfield Town and wants to further his education while at the club.

“Jamie’s movement was really good and I didn’t realise he was 39,” said Carr.

“If you just looked at him you would never think that, but it shows the quality of the man and his experience.

“It doesn’t matter how old you are. If you have got it up in your brain it will show on the pitch and he did really well at York.

“Anywhere I go I am looking to learn, but also help improve the team as well. It is important to give my qualities to the team as well as learn from them.”

Carr signed for Huddersfield in the summer of 2013, but has only made three appearances for the Terriers.

He did make five appearances while on loan at Fleetwood Town last season and appeared four times for Mansfield Town earlier this season on loan.

Now he has moved to Victoria Road and he is hoping to earn the trust from manager Burnett and start scoring goals.

“I have basically lived away from home since I was 16 so it is not about distance when you move on loan,” added Carr.

“It is good that Dagenham is close to my home, but this loan is mainly about playing games.

“I was delighted when I heard Dagenham were interested and I knew about Wayne Burnett from before, so this loan means I can work with him and Dagenham to further my education.

“Starting games will come if I am scoring goals so I want both. I have had a few loan spells, but I feel now is the time to take it on a bit and really get some games for Dagenham before the end of the season.”

Although Carr only played the final eight minutes at Bootham Crescent he was happy to make his debut.

He also discussed how important it was for the club to get three points at York.

“I am pleased to get a run out at the end and pleased to get the win because that was the main objective,” Carr said.

“I came on and I wanted a goal, but that wasn’t the main thing – it was the team winning and keeping a clean sheet.”

After mixed success in his previous two loan spells this is a big opportunity for Carr to impress and he is determined to make the most of it.

Although he has only been afforded less than 10 minutes against York and Portsmouth, he can expect to get an extended run against Morecambe on Sunday.
