Another late goal contributed towards defeat

Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett was again left disappointed after Shrewsbury Town scored in the injury time to seal a 2-1 victory at Victoria Road.

Billy Bingham had put the home side into the lead but they conceded twice in the last 20 minutes to suffer a fourth consecutive defeat at home.

They also played the majority of the second period against ten men after Jermaine Grandison was shown a straight red card for hauling down Ade Yusuff.

Burnett felt that changed the game though, he said: “I felt that the sending off changed the game.

“I said to one of the coaching staff it is not a good thing that it has happened.

“Shrewsbury raised their game and we got on the back foot. We sat back and kind of give them the initiative I guess.”

The equalising goal was a fantastic finish by Andrew Mangan, smashing a volley over Daggers keeper Mark Cousins and into the top corner.

But Burnett was disappointed with the defending for the penalty.

Scott Doe pulling Mangan down inside the box, despite the Shrewsbury forward not being in a threatening position.

“It was a fantastic finish by them to equalise,” said the Daggers boss.

“It is very disappointing, the first goal is a fantastic finish by them but the second goal was comical defending.

“You can’t touch people in the box, you touch people in the box and they will go down.”
