Experienced defender positive ahead of Shrewsbury Town this weekend

Dagenham & Redbridge defender Scott Doe is not too concerned about the form of the Victoria Road club because performances have been encouraging.

Wayne Burnett’s team secured an excellent point at Adams Park last weekend, although they came close to earning a win before Peter Murphy headed a late equaliser for Wycombe Wanderers.

Daggers had lost their previous two matches before that encounter and have only won four times in League Two this season.

But despite that, the performances have been positive and although they are currently 21st in the table they deserve to be higher judged on their displays of late.

Doe wondered whether the draw at Wycombe could be a turning point but regardless of the result this weekend against Shrewsbury Town, he knows they will start moving up the table soon.

“I think the Wycombe draw could be the turning point,” said the Daggers defender.

“You come to top of the league and it doesn’t matter how they play, they are here for a reason and we have got a point.

“And if we was playing real bad and losing we would be worried but I know for a fact we have a lot of quality.

“That is why I know for a fact it will turn for us but we need that bit of luck on the way.

“The performances have been alright, even when we have lost, so no one is panicking. We are still confident of doing well.”

Although Doe wasn’t too aware of how well Shrewsbury have been doing, ahead of their trip to Victoria Road tomorrow (Saturday).

He knows Burnett’s team will be in for a tough contest, adding: “I have never ever played an easy game in this league but it is a home game.

“I don’t really know how Shrewsbury have been doing but they have come down from the league above so it is going to be a tough game.”
