Pre-season friendly: Maidstone United v Dagenham & Redbridge, 7,45pm
Daggers will hand an opportunity to veteran striker Jamie Cureton tonight as they make the trip to Ryman Premier outfit Maidstone United.
The 38-year-old was released by League Two rivals Cheltenham Town at the end of last season and has been on the lookout for another club ever since.
And he will get his chance to impress boss Wayne Burnett as the Victoria Road side make the return trip to Kent, having won 1-0 at Bromley on Saturday, thanks to trialist Alan Connell’s strike.
Connell will feature once again tonight, as will Jon-Paul Pittman, Nabil Guedioura and Gozie Ugwu as boss Burnett continues to look at his forward options, though Troy Hewitt will not return for another game.
Alongside the absences of injured duo Medy Elito and Rhys Murphy, the Daggers will again be without midfielder Ashley Chambers after the birth of his child on Saturday.
Jon Nouble and Sean Shields are nursing back injuries so won’t be risked, while Bradley Goldberg may miss out after also tweaking his back in the win at Bromley.
“We’ll have a look at our options again,” said Burnett. “Quite a few from Saturday will get a chance but they’ll be no Troy Hewitt.
“They’ll be one or two new faces along with the likes of Connell, Guedioura and Ugwu. We’ll give Jamie Cureton a chance and see what he’s like as well.
“A couple of the squad will be missing the match with injuries though. The hard ground is continuing to prove a bit of a problem at the moment.”
