Former Daggers goalkeeper Chris Lewington is currently on trial at Championship side Watford.

The 25-year-old ended his five-year stay with the club in the summer as he went in search of a fresh start.

And in a bid to earn a contract with the Vicarage Road side, the former Daggers number one has accompanied the Hornets on their pre-season training camp in Udine.

Watford’s current third-choice goalkeeper Gary Woods is set to leave the club at the end of his contract next week, and Lewington could fill that spot.

If the former Leatherhead youngster does agree a deal with Giuseppe Sannino’s side, he will link up with a former Daggers loanee in the shape of Jonathan Bond.

Bond appeared for the Victoria Road side on five occasions in 2012, and he will fight it out with former Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes for the number one spot next season.
