Daniel Carr’s former manager believes the talented youngster switch to Dagenham & Redbridge on loan will be a success.

Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose managed Carr during the 2012/13 campaign and sold the youngster to Championship club Huddersfield Town.

Although the 21-year-old hasn’t played too much senior football since his April 2013 transfer, Rose believes a move to Victoria Road could be perfect.

He also insists Carr, who comes from Lambeth, will develop under Daggers boss Wayne Burnett.

“Daniel went on loan to Fleetwood Town and Mansfield Town, but I think they were probably further away than they should have been,” said Rose.

“I think someone like Wayne, who I know personally, will see the attributes he has got and get the best out of him.

“Dagenham is close to home and around his family so he probably only needs to get a train into the training ground and the way Wayne is with young players he will tell them what is needed, but also put an arm around them as well and that is important.

“I think that will be good for Daniel and Wayne has an excellent reputation with young players.

“He is also from Daniel’s neck of the woods so he will be able to relate to him and that is also important and he could definitely get the best out of Daniel.”

Rose is certain Carr can get to the highest level of the game, despite making just three appearances for Huddersfield since joining them ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

He is sure the former Reading scholar will gain the trust of the Daggers coaches and take the opportunities handed to him.

“I honestly think Daniel can go all the way to the top. He has attributes that players at the top level don’t have,” insisted Rose.

“If he is given the right opportunities I do think he can play at the highest level. He has great attributes and he can beat players as well as having an eye for goal.

“You never know what is going to happen and you need a little bit of luck, but if he can get the trust from Wayne and be given a chance and take it then this loan will be a really significant part of his development.

“If he can go to Dagenham and impress Wayne and the rest of the players in training he could do really well and take this opportunity.”

And what type of player can Daggers supporters expect to see? Rose added: “He is very lively. He is quick and exciting. He likes to take people on and likes to get shots off so they will see a very exciting player.”
