Essex Senior Cup fourth round: Grays Athletic 2 (Cole 47, Bishop 86) Dagenham & Redbridge 1 (Romain 75)

Dagenham & Redbridge crashed out of the Essex Senior Cup after a 2-1 defeat away to Grays Athletic.

In a goalless first half at Parkside, the closest any side came to breaking the deadlock came when Daggers midfielder Charlee Adams had an effort deflected onto the post.

Just two minutes into the second half, though, Athletic took the lead when Ade Cole’s short from distance beat Lewis Moore in goal for the visitors.

The Victoria Road outfit drew level in the 75th minute when a cross from the right by full back Ben Nunn eventually found its way to Elliott Romain, who tapped home.

The match appeared to be heading for penalties until the 86th minute when Kieran Bishop struck for Grays after playing a one-two with Tim Monsheju.

The defeat means Daggers have now been knocked of the Essex Senior Cup in the fourth round for the past three seasons, with all exits coming against Bostik North opposition.

Grays: Johnson, Folkes, Thompson, Fowler, Poole, Halle, Brown (Zialor 63), Cole (Okonkwo 90+2), Bishop, Monsheju, Carlos.

Subs: Bruce, Cogan.

Daggers: Moore, Nunn, Lee, Pennell, Gordon, Hyde, Adams, Robinson, Romain, White, Kandi.

Subs: Chapman, Bonds, Holmes, Kartita, Florence.
