Former Dagger on trial with local rivals

Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett has revealed that Luke Howell is currently on trial with League Two rivals Leyton Orient.

Howell left Victoria Road following the expiration of his contract last month and is now free to find a new club.

Rumours had been circulating that Howell had been training with Daggers’ local rivals but boss Burnett has admitted they are in fact true.

Burnett confirmed Howell had played for Orient in their pre-season game at Braintree Town before adding, “We’ve spoken to him and I wish Luke well.

“He’s been a fantastic servant to Dagenham and did marvellous. He’s moving on and now we have to move on.”
