Midfielder confident team have quality to remain in League Two
Joss Labadie says Dagenham & Redbridge are eager to prove they can still cut it in League Two when they host Luton Town on Sunday.
Daggers have won just once so far this season and are currently bottom after failing to win in their last 10 league fixtures.
In that run, the team have twice thrown away a two-goal lead at home to Mansfield Town and away to similarly troubled Yeovil Town.
Both Dagenham and the Glovers are now three points adrift in the relegation zone after just 15 games.
Labadie insists the team still can compete in the division and want to show it, starting this weekend.
“Hopefully we’ll come away with three points,” he said. “Right throughout the league there’s not much between the teams.
“We know, no matter who we’re up against we can go out and win.”
Sunday’s fixture sees Dagenham come up against the most successful manager in their history in the form of John Still.
Daggers were guided into the Football League for the first time by Still and were later promoted to League One under him.
Still left Victoria Road in February 2013 to take charge of the Hatters with his then-assistant Wayne Burnett taking over.
Following the summer departures of Abu Ogogo, Scott Doe, Billy Bingham and Luke Howell there are no former Still players left at the club.
But Labadie does not feel this will adversely affect his team’s chances of winning, noting the players will still give it their all.
“It’s a fresh team so I’m sure most of the boys will be going into it like any other game, giving it 100 per cent,” he said.
Whether they can do that under the pressure they are under will be seen on Sunday.
