Billy Bingham disappointed with defeat to Newport County at the weekend

Billy Bingham believes Dagenham & Redbridge need to start capitalising on the chances they are creating after another decent performance at Victoria Road ended in defeat on Saturday.

Chris Zebroski headed home in the 90th minute to give Newport County a 1-0 victory and consign Daggers to 13th defeat out of their last 23 home matches.

Bingham was introduced just before half time for the injured Joss Labadie but was disappointed Wayne Burnett’s side couldn’t get anything out of the game, even with captain Abu Ogogo given his marching orders ten minutes from time.

“It is very disappointing and we have had a few chances too,” he added.

“We have to capitalise on the parts where we are on top and I thought we was on top for quite a lot of the game but we have to take our chances.

“I think we still wanted to keep going and to get the win (even with ten men) but it is disappointing in the end.”

Bingham unfortunately suffered a dislocated finger following the incident involving Ogogo and County’s Lee Minshull, which resulted in the Daggers skipper being shown a straight red for allegedly lashing out at the opposition midfielder.

The 24-year-old had to pull his captain away from the incident and he felt that Minshull should have also been sent off for his involvement in the confrontation.

“Somebody just ran into my hand,” revealed Bingham.

“John Gowens had to put it (my finger) back in. He had to pull it quite hard to be fair, but it is alright.

“I didn’t really see the sending off if I’m being honest. I know that the other geezer didn’t get anything but I think if one goes the other has got to go.”
