Burnett revealed pair will feature in Essex Senior Cup tonight

Dagenham & Redbridge boss Wayne Burnett admits tonight’s Essex Senior Cup third round tie with Ryman North Barkingside will be different to usual because of how strong a side he will be putting out.

The Victoria Road outfit welcome local rivals Side for a 7.30pm kick-off and the match provides Rhys Murphy with an opportunity to continue his way back to fitness with some important first team minutes.

Daggers boss revealed Murphy will feature and the 23-year-old is expected to start his first game for the club since March 1.

Various other first team players will definitely be involved like Luke Howell, who hasn’t played since starting against York City on September 27.

Burnett said: “Rhys and Luke will both play some part in the game, which is really encouraging.

“We will be very strong. I think Abu Ogogo can actually play in the game and Joss Labadie will play.

“Jack Connors will play so we have five or six players that could potentially play in the first team that will be playing in the Essex Senior Cup, which is quite unusual.”

Ogogo has served two matches of his three game suspension but is allowed to play in this competition.

It is expected that Ashley Hemmings and Ian Gayle could also feature from the first team, whilst youngster Frankie Raymond and Mason Bloomfield will hope for an opportunity.

Burnett revealed it is a chance for first team players to prove they are fit enough for Saturday’s League Two match with Shrewsbury Town.

He added: “The Essex Senior Cup is normally a good run out for the squad players but it should be fun.

“There will be first team players (against Barkingside) that could be involved on Saturday.”
