Charlton Athletic youngster impressed during the 4-2 victory over Carlisle United at the weekend
New Dagenham & Redbridge defender Ayo Obileye admitted it felt good to win for the first time at Victoria Road after making his home debut on Saturday.
The 20-year-old only joined Wayne Burnett’s team recently on a one-month youth loan from Charlton Athletic, but was thrust straight into the action against Carlisle United and helped his side achieve a first victory since October 11.
Obileye lined up as part of a three-man defence alongside fellow central defenders Brian Saah and Scott Doe.
It is a formation the youngster is comfortable with and he enjoyed playing alongside the experienced Daggers duo.
“I have played in a three before and it is good because it makes us really solid,” said Obileye.
“At times you can counter it but when you get it right it is the best thing so as a defender that is good and that is what we wanted.
“It is great playing alongside such experienced defenders and they help you out throughout the whole 95 minutes.
“They don’t stop talking, they cover your back and that is what I love, I love to do that for others and love when that happens to me.”
The defender also loved the experience of winning for the first time in Dagenham colours.
He conceded he was feeling tired towards the latter stages of the game but was thrilled they held on and earned the three points.
“It was great to win and it was a great experience for me,” added Obileye.
“It was tough against Carlisle and the last 25 minutes my legs were going a bit but I stuck in there.
“It is a good feeling winning at home and the fans are fantastic. We got the win and that was what we needed.”
