Daggers boss Wayne Burnett admits he won’t read too much into his side’s 1-0 pre-season win against Bromley on Saturday.

Trialist Alan Connell netted the only goal of the game in the first half as the Victoria Road side got their preparations underway.

And while pleased with the opening workout admits the more important thing was that his side had a clean bill of health come the end of it.

“It was our first game and most players got 45 minutes so we are pleased,” said Burnett.

“Results are insignificant at the moment but it was nice to have a run out and come through it unscathed so we are pleased about that.”

Connell supplied the finish after a good throughball from Scott Doe and that left the Daggers boss happy, despite not testing Bromley goalkeeper Seb Brown too often after the opener.

“It was good movement for the goal, it was the first time we got behind them really. I thought Bromley played quite well and were probably better than us in the first half,” added Burnett, who also gave former Wycombe man Jon Paul-Pittman and ex-Daggers loanee Troy Hewitt the chance to impress from the off.

“We didn’t really trouble their goalkeeper but it was a run out and we had three players who had no idea how we play so we gave them an opportunity and we came out in the second half and gave another four or five a chance.”

He added: “It’s difficult, you want to come here and play and we didn’t do great in the first half, but I am not worried about the results, all I am worried about is that we get a good run out and that the players work incredibly hard.

“We haven’t done any tactical stuff, it’s just been fitness and when you have three players that have no idea how we play and you try and tell them 10 minutes before you play it is difficult.”
