Dagenham & Redbridge have added winger George Porter to the squad on a short-term deal ahead of the new League Two season.

The 22-year-old has spent the last few weeks training with the Daggers, and featured in several of the pre-season friendlies.

Having taken an extended look at the former Leyton Orient winger, boss Wayne Burnett has decided to give Porter the chance to impress, with his deal running until the end of November.

The winger rose to prominence while with the O’s and rejected the offer of a two-year contract at Brisbane Road, and subsequently joined then Championship side Burnley for a £90,000 fee settled at tribunal.

But the youngster never settled with the Clarets, and spent time on loan with Colchester United and AFC Wimbledon.

Upon his release from the Turf Moor side, he joined Rochdale on a short-term deal but only played two games for the side which won promotion to League One last season.

Porter will wear the number 14 shirt during his time with the Daggers.
