Daggers winger wants to get fans back on side with a win at Victoria Road tomorrow

George Porter believes it is important Dagenham & Redbridge take the game to Southport in tomorrow’s (Saturday) FA Cup first round tie.

The Conference Premier outfit will be hoping to cause a cup upset and visit Victoria Road in good form – they are unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions.

And the Daggers winger acknowledges the non-league side will see the first round tie as a great opportunity to cause a shock.

“We are looking to take it to them at home,” insisted Porter.

“I am not going to say we have an easy draw but we have a team that we are looking to beat.

“They will probably come here and think it is a league opposition so they will give it a good go.

“I think the main target for us is to get a few goals and win at home and get the fans back here, on our side.”

Daggers have only picked up one victory in their last seven matches in all competitions.

However, that was an excellent 2-1 success at Accrington Stanley and they recently held league leaders Wycombe at Adams Park.

Porter believes they impressed in the opening hour against Shrewsbury Town last weekend and insists the players will turn the form around.

He added: “I think the first 55-60 minutes we competed well with Shrewsbury and they are right up there.

“Even with Wycombe, they are at top of the league and we know we can compete with these teams it is just that little bit of luck that we need at the moment.

“There is not point us getting our heads down, we have got to get on with it.

“We do look at the positives, there are positives, and there is that little bit of luck we need as well but results will come, trust me.”

Having a brand new kitchen is something that lots of people want but can only dream of. Sadly keeping up to date and making our living spaces as nice as they can be is a costly and incredibly stressful business. Even a fresh coat of paint makes all the difference but isn’t easy or quick.
