Daggers defender hoping to keep starting place against Accrington tomorrow

After returning to the team for the first time since August 30, Dagenham & Redbridge defender Scott Doe is hoping to keep his place against Accrington Stanley and help move the Victoria Road outfit up the table tomorrow (Saturday).

Doe played a full 90 minutes during Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat to local rivals Leyton Orient in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

And now the 25-year-old is hoping to remain in Wayne Burnett’s starting line-up.

“I was injured for a couple of weeks and missed a few games,” explained Doe.

“The team beat York City and drew with Cheltenham Town so I had to wait for my turn.

“The manager’s decision is his decision and I will never moan, but I want to play every game and I’m used to playing.

“I don’t think I did too bad against Orient and fingers crossed I can start on Saturday.”

Daggers will visit the Crown Ground facing a team on a run of three consecutive league wins since John Coleman returned as manager.

But Doe is confident Daggers can beat Stanley and wants them to replicate the first-half performance against Exeter.

“I definitely feel confident,” added Doe.

“If we go there and play like we did against Orient, cut out some silly mistakes, we can get some points.

“We played Exeter the other day and they were on a great run, but in the first half they didn’t even get near our goal because we were all over them.

“Obviously the second half was different, but there is no reason why we need to worry about Accrington.

“If we play similar to how we played against Orient and have the good spells we have been having, we will have no problem beating Accrington.”

Doe was encouraged by the Daggers’ display against Orient on Tuesday and just frustrated they lost.

“I don’t think we have come out of it with any disgrace at all,” he added.

“We are frustrated because we genuinely think we didn’t deserve to lose.

“Obviously they are a good team and they have some very good players, but we wanted to get a win and I don’t think our performance was too bad.”
