Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still has urged the team to launch a swift return to better form when they host Wycombe Wanderers in League Two tonight.

The Victoria Road outfit ended 2015 and started 2016 in fine style with wins away to Stevenage and Exeter City respectively.

Since then, Daggers are yet to win again in the league with a draw at Newport County sandwiched by losses to Northampton Town and Cambridge United.

The east Londoners are also still without a win at home this season, a run that will stretch to 17 without a success against the Chairboys tonight.

But Still has backed his team to bounce back from their weekend disappointment at Cambridge as they look to pull closer to safety.

“I find that football goes in cycles a bit,” he said. “Our form up until Cambridge in the league, winning two, losing one and drawing one, was as good as a lot around, so I’m not worried about losing away to Cambridge.”

One man who will not be lining up against Wycombe is Nyron Nosworthy after Still confirmed the centre-back has retired from professional football.

The former Sunderland defender, who represented Jamaica at an international level, joined Daggers on a one-year deal in the summer from Blackpool.

Nosworthy featured 17 times in League Two for Daggers this season, scoring his only goal in October’s 3-1 defeat at Accrington Stanley.

But the 35-year-old has now called time on a career spanning just over 17 years and Still admits losing a man of his experience could have a negative impact on Daggers.

“Nyron’s retirement probably is a loss, but he wanted to pack up so there is nothing we can do about that,” he added.

“We can only control the controllables, we can’t control his decision to retire, but we can control what we have got.”
