Dagenham & Redbridge manager hopes some vital wins at home points to survival

Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still knows if his team have any designs on staying in League Two, they must turn their home form around sooner rather than later.

Victoria Road has become a happy hunting ground for many teams this season with Wycombe Wanderers the latest team to take something away from their trip to east London after winning 2-1 on Tuesday night.

But Daggers are presented with another chance to arrest their poor record at home on Saturday as they play host to inconsistent Barnet for what should be an entertaining London derby.

On their away form alone, Daggers would be comfortably in the safety of mid-table and Still is fully aware their results at home must start catching up with that.

“For a club with as poor a home record as ours, of course it’s important to win at home,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter where you’re winning, home or away, as long as you get enough points. At home is going to be a big game for us, but every game between now and the end of the season is going to be important for us. It’s important we approach the games in the right manner.”

Daggers know that they will start the weekend’s fixture against Barnet in the bottom two as the battle to survive approaches its climax.

But Still remains confident his team have enough about them to remain in the Football League for a landmark 10th season.

“What we have to do is get ourselves right and my team is getting right,” he added,

“There has been some really good improvement in what we’ve been doing. There’s enough games left to save ourselves.”
