Wayne Burnett will have Joe Widdowson available to call on against Oxford United this afternoon after the left-back signed a deal until the end of the season yesterday.

Rhys Murphy scored the winner for Daggers last weekend against Bury and is expected to partner Jamie Cureton up front again.

The Victoria Road outfit could be unchanged from that opening win of the year, although Widdowson will be vying with Jack Connors for a place at left-back.

Zavon Hines is expected to line up on the bench again after playing and finding the net against Brentford in a development match during the week.

Burnett discussed what chance the winger had of playing before that development match on Tuesday.

He said: “It is a great boost to have Zav back. We looked to get him involved against Bury because it would lift everyone and it was great to have him on the bench.

“Zav is another that will need to be managed because he is desperate to play, like all players when they come back injured.

“But he needs to realise he won’t come back to the player he was before straight away so we will manage him.

“We have to wait and see how the game with Oxford panes out, but nothing would make me happier than to see Zav play in a competitive match.”

Captain Abu Ogogo remains out so Scott Doe is expected to keep hold of the armband, but Christian Doidge has returned to training this week ahead of the U’s visit.

Daggers preparation for the match hasn’t been helped by the weather, though, as they were forced to train over Central Park and Parsloes Park on Tuesday and Thursday.
