Wayne Burnett may look to stick with the same defence that kept a clean sheet against Southend United last weekend.

Daggers boss was still waiting to find out whether Joe Widdowson would be eligible to play against his former club when he spoke earlier in the week.

But if the 25-year-old is unavailable then Jack Connors could be in for another start, after returning to the team for the first time since October last weekend.

“Abs is still not available. He is still some way away to be honest,” said Burnett.

“I thought both Matt Partridge and Jack equipped themselves very well and did a good job against Southend.

“Matty needed to come off towards the end, but it was a real team performance.

“I am still waiting for confirmation about whether Joe Widdowson is available or not, so Jack will be in contention, as will Matt.”

Burnett also commented on Zavon Hines fitness earlier in the week and suggested he could be close to a first team return.

It is expected the match against the Shakers will come too soon for the winger, but it appears positive for the Victoria Road boss.

They’ll aim to open their account for 2015 with a home victory, like they did last year as they defeated AFC Wimbledon 1-0 on January 1.
