Vanarama National League: Torquay United 0 Dagenham & Redbridge 3 (Okenabirhie 50, 90 Robson 76)

Dagenham & Redbridge ended a four-game winless run in the National League with a 3-0 success at relegation threatened Torquay United.

Daggers boss John Still made two changes following last weekend’s loss to Aldershot Town.

Andre Boucaud and Michael Cheek dropped out of the matchday squad altogether, with Charlee Adams and Mason Bloomfield recalled to the starting XI.

There were also spots on the bench for academy products Liam Gordon and Elliot Bonds following the Essex club’s forced sale of players.

Bloomfield had an early chance to mark his recall with a goal from a but headed into the arms of Torquay stopper Vincent Dorel following a free kick in the fifth minute.

United had a chance themselves 32 minutes later when Jamie Reid raced through on goal, but away stopper Mark Cousins was able to smother the resulting shot.

With four minutes left in the half, Fejiri Okenabirhie tapped into the net for Daggers, but the effort was ruled out for offside as the sides went into half time level.

Just five minutes into the second half, though, Daggers took the lead when Okenabirhie rifled home powerfully.

Daggers could have doubled their lead in the 66th minute when Bloomfield fashioned room for a shot excellently, but put his effort over the bar.

Daggers did add a second 10 minutes later, with skipper Craig Robson heading home from a free kick.

Still’s men added a third in stoppage time when Michee Efete turned an Okenabirhie shot into his own net, though the Daggers man was credited with the strike.

Daggers will want a similar result on Tuesday night when they make the trip to Dover Athletic in the league.
