Essex’s football coaches and volunteers can book onto new coaching courses and workshops, from the FA Level 1 to the popular Youth Modules, as listings have now been published for the first half of 2015.

Courses are available to meet the needs of beginners looking to make casual inroads into coaching, volunteers who’d like to convert expertise into more formal qualifications and forward-thinking individuals with ambitions to move up the ladder.

New dates and venues are normally added every six months, and the latest range to cover the first half of 2015 has recently been released online, with places being snapped-up quickly.

Level One is the starting point for most people and, once completed, a coach will be able to safely organise and supervise football activities, promote and establish working relationships and high standards between players, coaches, parents and officials and identify and adapt activities and sessions for a variety of age groups.

The Level Two award is the next progression, offering candidates a combination of practical experience and class-based theory to develop an understanding of the planning, conducting and evaluation of ethical coaching sessions.

The course is run over 10 days and includes sections on technique and skill, plus a 4v4 small-sided game. It also ramps up the theory element.

The Essex FA additionally provide the first two modules of the three-pronged FA Youth Award, which is the equivalent of the Level Three award. The four-day ‘Developing the Environment’ and ‘Developing the Practice’ elements lead up to the ‘Developing the Player’ portion, which is exclusively available through FA Learning.

Courses can be booked online, or by contacting the County Office directly, and these are not just limited to coaching. There is the three-hour FA Emergency First Aid workshop and a nine-hour Basic Sports First Aid Course, plus Safeguarding Children and Welfare Officer Workshops in order for individuals to gain qualifications required by all youth clubs.

For the full course range, visit essexfa.com and click on ‘Coaches/Book Courses’. Alternatively, contact Maryanne Dennis via 01245 393070 or maryanne.dennis@essexfa.com, or Sue Hammond via 01245 393072 or sue.hammond@essexfa.com.

Information on courses is also shared on Twitter @EssexCountyFA and by searching for ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook.
