Senegal international suffered injury during training this morning

West Ham United are waiting to find out the extent of an injury suffered by Cheikhou Kouyate during training this morning.

The Senegal international was reported to have suffered an arm injury at Chadwell Heath, but the club refused to comment until they had received medical confirmation.

The former Anderlecht ace has been excellent since signing in the summer and has made 22 appearances for the Hammers this campaign.

He starred in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United recently, scoring a stunning goal and has impressed in central defence over the past few matches.

Kouyate has only just returned from the African Cup of Nations and Sam Allardyce will hope his injury isn’t serious.

Although no prognosis has been forthcoming yet, he could be doubtful for this weekend’s derby with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

A serious injury to the midfielder would be a blow for Allardyce as he looks to maintain momentum in the Premier League, but with Winston Reid and James Collins set to return against Spurs he will have plenty of options in defence should Kouyate be ruled out of Sunday’s clash.
