Essex Football Futures Camp inviting applicants

Young volunteers are being given the opportunity to showcase their leadership skills at the Essex Football Futures Camp with the chance to represent the county at the national meeting.

The annual training and development event takes place at the UEL SportsDock on April 11 from 9.30am until 4.30pm.

One boy and one girl will then be selected to represent Essex at St George’s Park, the England national training centre, later in the year.

Spaces are still available for the camp and applicants must have completed a minimum of five hours of volunteering in football and should also hold one of the following qualifications:
Sports Leaders UK Level One or Two (formerly JSLA/CSLA)

FA Level 1 or 2 Coaching Certificate

FA Junior Football Organisers/Leaders Certificate

FA referee qualification

Interested applicants can apply through their PE teacher or club representative or online at by March 27.

James Daykin, chair of the Essex Youth Council, was chosen as the county’s representative in 2013 and says the camps offer many opportunities.

““This is a chance to showcase leadership talents and further your ability to nurture others within the game,” he said.

As all of our Youth Council members have realised, the Football Futures Camp starts you off on a journey which can take you anywhere.”
