Cesc Fabregas hopes Spain manager Vincente del Bosque keeps the same line-up for tonight’s Euro 2012 clash
Former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas has warned Chelsea striker Fernando Torres that he intends to keep the Blues frontman out of the starting line-up.
The Spaniard played in a ‘false nine’ position as Vicente Del Bosque left all his strikers on the bench and the Barcelona ace hopes that this continues when Spain face Republic of Ireland tonight.
“I like scoring goals and I hope it continues for a long time,” Fabregas said.
“It’s a position I’ve played in a lot with Barcelona. I’m happy there.
“I have a lot more mobility and I can go where I like. I like it.
“My goal against Italy was my first since February. But I hope I can keep scoring goals. I am still learning. I’ve been with the national team for seven years and it’s true I haven’t always played much. But I knew my chance would come.”
