Ex-USA goalkeeper Kasey Keller is a fan of Marko Marin

Former USA goalkeeper Kasey Keller has praised Chelsea new boy Marko Marin after the Germany midfielder’s goal-scoring debut against Seattle Sounders on Thursday.

Keller, who played for a host of English clubs between 1992 and 2008, and most recently for Seattle, was Marin’s teammate at another former club, Borussia Monchengladbach.

“I played with Marko Marin when he came through from the youth team at Gladbach,” he told the official Chelsea website.

“It was good to see him step out and do what he does best [against Seattle] which is to take people on one-on-one and he was looking very dangerous from the beginning. I obviously wish him all the success with this move.

“There was no question that he was highly rated from early on,” he said. “He is a good explosive little player and we will see how he adapts to Premier League football. I think he will continue to get stronger.”
