With it being Mothering Sunday this weekend, we want to pay tribute to all the sporting mums in our part of Essex and East London.

Whatever the sport, be it athletics, boxing, cricket, football, hockey, ice hockey, rugby, swimming or any other, we would like to hear your tales of achievement by inspirational women.

Not only that, we want you to tell us about those mums who sacrifice so much to help their children pursue their own sporting dreams, acting as a taxi service or washing muddy kit without complaint!

And there are no doubt plenty of women out there who take on the thankless tasks of managing or coaching teams to ensure not only their own children, but also others, get the chance to play and enjoy sport.

My own mum was a regular fixture on the touchlines, while I was playing football for Robert Clack School in the late 1980s and had no shortage of shirts, shorts and socks to clean for my brother and I.

To pay your special tributes to sporting mums this weekend, from our boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets, email dagenhampost.sport@archant.co.uk.

And a special Happy Mother’s Day from us!

As we grow older it becomes more and more important to have means to travel about safely and quickly. Our friendship groups and families grow and the need to have a car that is not only safe but also fast and big enough for all our needs is ever more important. There are many cars on the market for such needs but none deals with them as efficiently or as neatly as a VW Golf Estate. These cars are build strong, long lasting and spacious for a reason. They cater to the needs of many and are some of the most popular cars currently on the market.
