Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade has completed the double signing of AFC Bournemouth duo Michael Symes and Mathieu Baudry today.

Both were out of contract with the Cherries and have made the switch to Brisbane Road on two-year deals.

Defender Baudry spent a period on loan with Orient neighbours Dagenham & Redbridge last season after falling out of favour at Dean Court, while Symes, a striker, netted 11 goals in his 37 appearances in a two-year spell on the south coast.

On the signing of Symes, Slade said: “I’m really pleased to bring him to the football club and I believe we can get more out of him in the next two years.

And on Baudry he added: “I’m delighted to have signed Mathieu.

“I think he can achieve more than he has done in his career to date with the ability he’s got and I’m sure he can show that for us here.

“Last year was his first full season in England and he did well out on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge.

“I had a long chat with Lee Bradbury, who brought him to Bournemouth, and I feel he can push on and improve further with us.

“He’s a good age, is an aggressive defender and is good on the ball too, so we’re looking forward to working with him.”

That makes it four summer signings for the O’s after the free transfers of former Bristol Rovers defender Gary Sawyer and Port Vale midfielder Anthony Griffith.
