Transfer news: Andy Carroll’s future will be decided by Brendan Rodgers
Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has insisted that manager Brendan Rodgers will have the final say on the future of Andy Carroll amid reports that West Ham have made a bid for the Newcastle and Fulham target.
The 23-year-old England international has been the subject of speculation since the new Reds boss hinted that the striker may be surplus to requirements.
“The only thing I can say is we will do what’s best for the club,” Werner told Sky Sports News.
“At the moment, Andy is on the squad. He was an important member of the English team, he has got a lot of talent and we will see what happens there.
“Brendan is clearly the leader here, and hopefully the question will be answered shortly.
“But at the moment, Andy is on the team and we are looking forward to his contributions.”
