Danny Murphy joined Blackburn because of the guarantee of first-team football
Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy has revealed that he left the Whites because he believed that manager Martin Jol was not going to give him as much playing time next season.
The 35-year-old made 48 appearances for the west Londoners last season but felt the club were looking to ease him out.
“The conversation I’d had with Fulham was they wanted me to stay but they were maybe looking at bringing someone in to play instead of me rather than competing with me,” Murphy said.
“I didn’t want to go down the road of finishing my career sitting, playing the odd game here and there. I’d rather be part of a new challenge and a project and that’s what this gave me.”
