Celtics forward missed the weekend win over Brooklyn Nets with a sore knee

Boston Celtics face a nervous wait over the fitness of forward Al Horford ahead of the NBA London Game 2018 against Philadeplhia 76ers at The O2 on Thursday.

The 31-year-old missed the 87-85 win over Brooklyn Nets at the weekend with a sore knee.

That was Celtics’ final game before heading to the UK for Thursday’s game with the 76ers.

If Horford were to miss out, it would be a cruel blow for the forward, who missed the NBA London Game 2014 through injury when he was with Atlanta Hawks.

And only last week, the former Florida Gators man spoke about his excitement of playing in London.

“As soon as we found out earlier this summer we were going to play in London, my wife and I were just ecstatic and very happy about it,” said Horford.

“I’m really trying to make the most out of the trip. We’ve been to London before. We love the city, so we’re looking forward to spending a couple days over there.”

Philadelphia 76ers host Boston Celtics at The O2 in London on January 11 as part of NBA Global Games London 2017. The game is live on BT Sport or via NBA LEAGUE PASS at www.nba.tv.
