Barking Abbey’s netball academy celebrated two national titles in the space of eight days this term.

They met Exeter College in the Knockout Cup final at Nottingham University and, after a strong start, ran out 66-51 winners after a clash between two unbeaten sides.

They returned to the same venue a week later for the National Premier League final four and beat local rivals Seevic 57-31 in their semi-final tie.

That set up a rematch with Exeter College and Abbey came from 12 goals down to complete a memorable double with a 77-52 victory.

The school also had a special visit from former student Kadeen Corbin, who won gold for England at the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April.

Corbin was on Abbey’s netball academy programme as a youngster and returned to work as a coach after studying at Bath University, before going to play in New Zealand.
