New Cambell face the camera at the start of a new season

New Cambell got their regional league season off to a fine start with a 51-38 win over Comets.

It wasn’t all plain sailing, though, as they endured a shaky opening quarter and made too many unforced errors which saw Comets take an 11-8 lead.

But they came back strongly in the second period after a few changes and won the quarter 14-9 to lead 22-20 at half-time.

Cambell did not look back after that as they put together some beautiful passages of play, and though errors did creep in, they were balanced out by some great reads and interceptions as they went on to lead 34-29.

Confidence continued to grow among the shooters and Cambell took the game to Comets in a 17-9 final quarter which saw them emerge 51-38 victors on the day and move into second spot at this early stage of the season.

They will hope to build on that impressive opening when facing early pacesetters Poly this weekend.
