Weightlifter from Sidcup gets selected.
Jack Oliver is hoping to rise to the occasion after being selected to take part in this summer’s Games.
The 21-year-old is one of five athletes to be selected for the weightlifting team, the biggest Team GB has sent to a Games since Barcelona in 1996.
Oliver will be competing in the 77kg category in the event which will take place at the ExCel Arena in London Docklands from July 28th until August 7th.
He said: “I’m really excited to be a part of this once in a lifetime chance. Having been part of the BOA’s Olympic Ambition programme during the Beijing games, I experienced what it’s like to be a part of an Olympic Games. I feel ready to rise to the occasion and try to make my country proud.”
